THE INSTRUCTORS

Jo Walker
Jo WalkerHi, my name is Jo Walker. As a teenager I was never much into sports and spent most of my spare time with my horses. Upon moving to Ilfracombe I attended some Aerobics classes and it wasn't long before I was hooked.

After a lot of hard work and revision I passed my "Exercise to Music" theory and practical exam in July 1990. I am a long standing member of Fitness Professional who provide me with my Public Liability Insurance and also with dates and venues of fitness workshops which I attend regularly.

It is important to me to deliver classes that are safe, effective and enjoyable. After running classes in school halls for fourteen years I was offered what's now STUDIO 20 and I jumped at the chance of being able to finally offer more content to my classes with the added use of weights and various other pieces of equipment that I couldn't in a school hall.

At STUDIO 20 I teach a wide range of classes from BODY BLITZ and SUPER CIRCUITS to classes that target problem areas such as BODY SCULPT and BODY CONDITIONING.

Over the years I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience which is invaluable in helping to motivate and encourage people in achieving their personal goals. Seeing the fantastic results my clients achieve leaves no room for questioning whether my classes really work..

Working out isn't just about achieving physical changes to our bodies it is also hugely beneficial in improving confidence and general well being.

I also do one to one personal training for people who prefer to train alone or need a bit of extra help with training and weight loss.

Call me on 01271 862019 or 07791 045310 to book a session

I feel very fortunate not only to have such a fantastic studio but more importantly to enjoy teaching my classes as much today as when I first began sixteen years ago!!

I look forward to seeing YOU in class and hope you enjoy your time spent at STUDIO 20 as much as I do....
Gemma Bearman
Gemma BearmanI trained at a dance college for 3 years as a professional dancer, I then went straight from college into a dance contract with "Spirit of the Dance". I am now settled and based in Ilfracombe working towards completing my teaching qualifications as well as establishing free jazz classes for kids. I am also qualified as an aerobics where I combine my dance experiance with aerobic and boxercise instructor
Shaun Kennard
Shaun KennardI have trained in martial arts, boxing and weight training for a number of years. Martial Arts has taken up a lot of my time, as I've grown up I have enjoyed learning Kickboxing, Karate, Tae-Kwon-Do and Thai Boxing and am now hoping to be able to pass on all that I have learnt over the years. I have had 4 years experience instructing in areas from Martial Arts to coaching rugby and football sessions. Last year I ran Kick - Fit at Studio 20 the class was open for boys and girls and was very popular however, I feel that there is a lot offered for girl and the boys seem to get a bit left out. In September 2006 I started work in the new gym at Studio 20 which I am really enjoying and now I have settled I feel I have the time to dedicate in helping boys become fitter and have more self-confidence.

I have also certified in Post-Rehabilitation and mat work by Polstar PIlates UK. I moved to North devon in 2002 and have been busier than ever specialising in Pilates rehabilitation in my own clinic where people can safely progress onto classes.

Iain Stewart
I was first introduced to yoga about nine years ago, and my practice has become more and more focused over the past five years.  It plays a crucial part of my everyday life, including my annual travels, searching for the benefit of learning varied styles and techniques from many different practitioners, predominantly in India but also Nepal and Sri Lanka.
I am trained to teach through the Devon School of Yoga, and strive to uphold the schools aim of teaching a holistic yoga from an eclectic knowledge base.  The core practice is developed from the Dr. Pillai system, which has it’s grounding in Hatha and Raja styles of yoga.
